Lovely Golden Scots Pine Bonsai Tree, stands approximately 60-70cm tall and planted in a unglazed ceramic pot. Due to the size, shape, value or weight of this piece it would need to be collected from our nursery.

Pinus sylvestris or Scots Pine and is an outdoorevergreen. This tree tends to be more compact and therefore more suitable for more styles of bonsai.

Location

It is a hardy plant found originally throughout Europe and in temperate Asia. Can be kept in full sun or partial shade throughout the growing season.

Temperature

Full sun or partial shade and can withstand frost up to -5°C or 23°F. Protect if prolonged periods of freezing temperatures are expected.

Watering

Pines dislike permanent moisture so be careful not to over water. Good drainage is necessary.

Pruning

Prune regularly to maintain the trees shape. Prune when new shoots grow which is normally in spring and summer.

Feeding

Feed once a month during the growing season usually spring- summer. Use liquid or pellet fertiliser (always read the label for instructions)

Repotting

Repot your Pine when it needs it. Possibly every 2-3 years.

We have been running our bonsai classes and workshops at Herons for over thirty years where they have been the source of inspiration for many bonsai enthusiasts. Currently we run a number of different workshops by Peter Chan or a Herons Team Member. 
 
What is a Workshop?
All our workshops are hands on sessions for all abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You can learn many aspects of bonsai in this class. 

These workshops book up fast so please do book if you would like to attend.

We do have a waiting list that you are welcome to join by emailing [email protected] letting us know how many places you are looking to book, please accompany this with your contact number, this means we can call if we get a late cancellation.

If you are looking for a 1-2-1 class with Peter Chan he can normally offer a 2 hour time slot on a Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 11am finishing at 1pm. 

You can also book a 1-2-1 with one of our experienced Herons Team Member should you wish.
