These popular General Bonsai Workshops are run by Peter Chan. Suitable for all abilities - You will get to make 2 small bonsai as this is included in the price of the course or you can always bring your own trees to work on. If you wish to purchase a tree of your choice from Herons to work on - this is also possible.

Our 'General Bonsai Workshops' are a great way to get started in Bonsai and to refresh your skills.

Our classes are suitable for all abilities, as Peter will teach each person individually catering to your own specific learning targets. Whether you are an expert or beginner, there is always something new to learn.

The workshop starts at 11am and will finish at 1pm

  • Tea and coffee will be provided free of charge during the day.
  • Please bring your own tools if you have them, any sharp scissors will do. If you don't have any you can buy them at the nursery.
  • You are welcome to bring your own bonsai tree if you wish or you can work on nursery material, only outdoor species are worked on (2 small outdoor trees are included in the price. For any other tree you wish to work on you can purchase the tree at the end of the day if you like what you make)
  • If you wish to find a place to have lunch after the class, there are a number of restaurants nearby.  . Alternatively you are welcome to bring your own lunch.
  • We have ample on-site parking and toilet facilities, We also have good disability access.
You will be surprised what can be achieved in just one class.

Thousands of enthusiasts the world over have learnt their bonsai from Peter, either from his books, his You-Tube videos or personally at his classes. We hear of people from across the world who started bonsai as a result of Peter's influence!

If you are booking for someone under 18 years old a parent / guardian will need to remain on-site for the duration of the class.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If you are unable to attend a workshop we are happy for you to reschedule once without charge, but only where we have had notice (of at least 4 weeks). These workshops are incredibly popular so please note that if you are unable to attend after that we can’t offer a refund or reschedule.

We have been running our bonsai classes and workshops at Herons for over thirty years where they have been the source of inspiration for many bonsai enthusiasts. Currently we run a number of different workshops by Peter Chan or a Herons Team Member. 
 
What is a Workshop?
All our workshops are hands on sessions for all abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You can learn many aspects of bonsai in this class. 

These workshops book up fast so please do book if you would like to attend.

We do have a waiting list that you are welcome to join by emailing [email protected] letting us know how many places you are looking to book, please accompany this with your contact number, this means we can call if we get a late cancellation.

If you are looking for a 1-2-1 class with Peter Chan he can normally offer a 2 hour time slot on a Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 11am finishing at 1pm. 

You can also book a 1-2-1 with one of our experienced Herons Team Member should you wish.
