Pinus mugo ‘Mugo pine’
Dwarf mountain pine is a sturdy outdoor, evergreen, compact tree with short branches, snarled trunk with scaly, grey bark, and green needles borne in pairs. It can be used for any bonsai style, although gnarled specimens are best trained in the driftwood style and young plants look food as informal upright, cascade or windswept bonsai.
Easy to keep they don’t normally need protection in the winter, although if temperatures fall below -5°C you may want to bring into an unheated greenhouse. Place in full sun during the growing season.
Water regularly to keep compost moist. Apply a general fertiliser in spring and autumn, but do not feed between mid-and late summer as overfeeding will encourage coarse growth and thickening of the branches.
Please Note: Please note that measurements given are approximate not exact. Measurements given are from the bottom of the pot to the top of the tree, the pot colour may also vary from the picture. Due to their nature trees grow and whilst in our care may need pruning, this means the tree that you receive may differ in size to that given in the description. The appearance of the tree may vary depending on the season.
