The Forsythia are
outdoor deciduous trees that are easy to keep. They are among the most colourful of the early flowering shrubs with their yellow flowers appearing on bare stems in spring.
Location
Keep outside all years round. Keep in full sun throughout the year.
Temperature
Forsythias are hardy plants that need no special protection during the winter.
Watering
Water regularly throughout the growing season, keep soil just moist in winter.
Pruning
Prune old shoots that carried the current seasons flowers immediately after flowering to encourage new flowering shoots.
No need to wire the tree if you are happy with the shape, if you need to wire remove after one year.
Repotting
Repot your tree when it needs it. Possibly every year or two years.
Feeding
Apply general fertiliser after flowering.
