The Japanese Grey Bark Elm, also known as Zelkova serrata, is a member of the Elm family, and is native to Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. It is a deciduous tree, with an umbrella like structure.

Location & Temperature

If placed outside it will need protection during the winter (bring inside for protection). The tree prefers a lot of light

Watering

Water regularly throughout the growing season. Allow the surface of the compost to dry a little between waterings but never allow to dry completely.

Pruning

Prune to shape.

Repotting

Check to see if the tree needs repotting every three or four years.

Feeding

Do not overfeed this tree as this can cause course growth and spoil the fine network of branches.

Please Note: The tree in the picture is the one we will send. The picture is for guidance only. It is not generally possible to send the tree in the picture. Please note that measurements given are approximate not exact. Measurements given are from the bottom of the pot to the top of the tree, the pot colour may also vary from the picture. Due to their nature trees grow and whilst in our care may need pruning, this means the tree that you receive may differ in size to that given in the description. The appearance of the tree may vary depending on the season.
