The Syzygium or Brush Cherry is an evergreen with dark green glossy leaves with small white flowers and dark berries. Native to Australia and New Zealand. It won’t tolerate frost, a cold draught or lots of variation in temperature.

Location

Kept as an indoor tree it does best in a warm sunny location and though it can tolerate full sun, partial shade is recommended in the hottest months.

Temperature

Do not place above a heating device as the Brush Cherry doesn’t like changes in temperature.

Watering

Water thoroughly when soil gets dry. Humidity is good for this tree.

Pruning

Prune to shape as these are vigorous growers.

Repotting

Check to see if your tree needs repotting every 2 or so years.

Feeding

Feed every two weeks in spring to autumn then once a month during the winter. Always read the label.
