Beyond Beginners Bonsai Workshop

This 2 hour course starts at 10am and is ideally, though not exclusively, aimed at prior attendees of our introductory workshops.

You will need to bring one tree (ideally from your intro course, or small tree from your own collection) and we will aim to assist you in improving your design through secondary wiring, early intermediate techniques, styling tips and how to choose the correct pot to suit your tree.

The course is limited to 6 people and booking is essential.

What to wear for this workshop?

All our workshops are conducted in an unheated greenhouse, so please ensure you wear appropriate clothing to be warm or cool (depending in the season). Sturdy/ sensible footwear is encouraged as we are a working nursery.

What's included in the price?

All the tools you need for this course will be supplied but feel free to bring your own tools if you'd prefer.

Cancellation policy

Workshops are incredibly popular so please note that if you are unable to attend we aren't able to offer a refund or reschedule.

Feel free to arrive earlier if you wish (and we are open) to have a look round our 7 Acre Nursery and Japanese garden. Alternatively you can stay on afterwards to have a look around (gates close at 4pm daily)

We have ample on-site parking and washroom facilities. We also have good disabled access.

Bonsai Workshops and Classes run by Herons Bonsai
We have been running our bonsai classes and workshops at Herons for over thirty years where they have been the source of inspiration for many bonsai enthusiasts. Currently we run a number of different workshops by Peter Chan or a Herons Team Member.

What is a Workshop?
All our workshops are hands on sessions for all abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You can learn many aspects of bonsai in this class.

These workshops book up fast so please do book if you would like to attend.

We do have a waiting list that you are welcome to join by emailing [email protected] letting us know how many places you are looking to book, please accompany this with your contact number, this means we can call if we get a late cancellation.

If you are looking for a 1-2-1 class with Peter Chan he can normally offer a 2 hour time slot on a Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 11am finishing at 1pm.

You can also book a 1-2-1 with one of our experienced Herons Team Member should you wish.
