Pinus Strobus 'Horsford' starter tree planted in a plastic pot, approximately 37-43cm tall. Please note each one will vary slightly in size, shape and trunk thickness.

Pinus strobus or Eastern white pine, is a rapid growing outdoor evergreen tree. It has soft, short lime-green needles in bundles of 5 and does not tend to produce cones in early years.

Location

Keep outdoors all year, prefers full sun.

Temperature

Likes cool, humid climate in full sun.

Pruning

Remove candles in early to mid summer to maintain the trees shape. 

Repotting

Check to see if the tree needs repotting every 3 or 4 years.

Feeding

Apply general feed in mid spring - early summer. Always read the label.

We have been running our bonsai classes and workshops at Herons for over thirty years where they have been the source of inspiration for many bonsai enthusiasts. Currently we run a number of different workshops by Peter Chan or a Herons Team Member. 
 
What is a Workshop?
All our workshops are hands on sessions for all abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You can learn many aspects of bonsai in this class. 

These workshops book up fast so please do book if you would like to attend.

We do have a waiting list that you are welcome to join by emailing [email protected] letting us know how many places you are looking to book, please accompany this with your contact number, this means we can call if we get a late cancellation.

If you are looking for a 1-2-1 class with Peter Chan he can normally offer a 2 hour time slot on a Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 11am finishing at 1pm. 

You can also book a 1-2-1 with one of our experienced Herons Team Member should you wish.
