Elaeagnus multiflora is a deciduous shrub that is suitable for an informal upright style of bonsai. They are popular in Japan where they are grown for their flowers and attractive fruit. They are hardy and don’t need any special winter protection. In summer they can be grown in full sun.
Pruning mostly happen in summer after flowering for these trees.
You can wire main branches as new shoots tend to grow straight up. Wiring is best time in mid summer and you would usually keep the wire on for a year.
Water regularly throughout the growing season allowing the surface of the compost to dry slightly between waterings. Never let it completely dry out.
Please Note: Please note that measurements given are approximate not exact. Measurements given are from the bottom of the pot to the top of the tree, the pot colour may also vary from the picture. Due to their nature trees grow and whilst in our care may need pruning, this means the tree that you receive may differ in size to that given in the description. The appearance of the tree may vary depending on the season.
