Impressive Buxus ‘Box’ Bonsai Tree in an oval mica pot, approximately 70- 73cm tall.

Buxus ‘Box’ tree is an outdoor, fairly hardy evergreen shrub. With its small glossy leaves it makes excellent bonsai. The hard long-lasting wood can be carved and used for driftwood effects.

Location

Outdoors in full sun or partial shade, but it will have deeper green if given some shade.

Temperature

Outdoors in summer but will require winter protection from hard frosts.

Watering

Water regularly throughout the growing season. Keep damp during winter.

Pruning

Some pruning when needed with scissors rather than by pinching of the young shoots.

Repotting

Repot in spring when it needs it, check every 2-3 years.

Feeding 

Feed with high-nitrogen feed from spring to early summer and with a general feed in mid-summer. Always read the label.

We have been running our bonsai classes and workshops at Herons for over thirty years where they have been the source of inspiration for many bonsai enthusiasts. Currently we run a number of different workshops by Peter Chan or a Herons Team Member. 
 
What is a Workshop?
All our workshops are hands on sessions for all abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You can learn many aspects of bonsai in this class. 

These workshops book up fast so please do book if you would like to attend.

We do have a waiting list that you are welcome to join by emailing [email protected] letting us know how many places you are looking to book, please accompany this with your contact number, this means we can call if we get a late cancellation.

If you are looking for a 1-2-1 class with Peter Chan he can normally offer a 2 hour time slot on a Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 11am finishing at 1pm. 

You can also book a 1-2-1 with one of our experienced Herons Team Member should you wish.
