Lovely Loropetalum with rich burgundy-coloured leaves in ceramic pot. Approximately 23-30cm tall.

Loropetalum Chinense or the Chinese Fringe Flower have rich burgundy-coloured leaves. Flowers that are deep pink and feathery in appearance - similar to those of Hamamelis (witch hazel) both being members of the witch hazel family. Semi-evergreen and semi-hardy. It can be grown outdoors in summer but will require protection from hard frosts. 

Location 

Outdoors in full sun in temperate climates. 

Temperature 

Outdoors in summer but will require winter protection from hard frosts. 

Watering

Water regularly throughout the growing season. Keep damp during winter.

Pruning 

Keep well pruned in summer to encourage bushiness.

Repotting

Repot in spring when it needs it, check every 2-3 years.

Feeding 

Feed with high-nitrogen fertilizer in spring/early summer. In late summer use low-nitrogen feed. Always read the label.

We have been running our bonsai classes and workshops at Herons for over thirty years where they have been the source of inspiration for many bonsai enthusiasts. Currently we run a number of different workshops by Peter Chan or a Herons Team Member. 
 
What is a Workshop?
All our workshops are hands on sessions for all abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You can learn many aspects of bonsai in this class. 

These workshops book up fast so please do book if you would like to attend.

We do have a waiting list that you are welcome to join by emailing [email protected] letting us know how many places you are looking to book, please accompany this with your contact number, this means we can call if we get a late cancellation.

If you are looking for a 1-2-1 class with Peter Chan he can normally offer a 2 hour time slot on a Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 11am finishing at 1pm. 

You can also book a 1-2-1 with one of our experienced Herons Team Member should you wish.
