Large Forsythia Bonsai Tree. Please ask for details before purchase. Due to the size, shape, value or weight of this piece it would need to be collected from our nursery.

The Forsythia are outdoor deciduous trees that are easy to keep. They are among the most colourful of the early flowering shrubs with their yellow flowers appearing on bare stems in spring. 

Location

Keep outside all years round. Keep in full sun throughout the year.

Temperature

Forsythias are hardy plants that need no special protection during the winter.

Watering

Water regularly throughout the growing season, keep soil just moist in winter.

Pruning

Prune old shoots that carried the current seasons flowers immediately after flowering to encourage new flowering shoots. 
No need to wire the tree if you are happy with the shape, if you need to wire remove after one year. 

Repotting

Repot your tree when it needs it. Possibly every year or two years.

Feeding

Apply general fertiliser after flowering.

We have been running our bonsai classes and workshops at Herons for over thirty years where they have been the source of inspiration for many bonsai enthusiasts. Currently we run a number of different workshops by Peter Chan or a Herons Team Member. 
 
What is a Workshop?
All our workshops are hands on sessions for all abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You can learn many aspects of bonsai in this class. 

These workshops book up fast so please do book if you would like to attend.

We do have a waiting list that you are welcome to join by emailing [email protected] letting us know how many places you are looking to book, please accompany this with your contact number, this means we can call if we get a late cancellation.

If you are looking for a 1-2-1 class with Peter Chan he can normally offer a 2 hour time slot on a Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 11am finishing at 1pm. 

You can also book a 1-2-1 with one of our experienced Herons Team Member should you wish.
