Cedar are an outdoor evergreen plant that make attractive bonsai. They have compact needles borne in clusters. They are easy to train and style.
Cedars are hardy in temperate climates and do not require protection in winter. They can be kept in full sun throughout the year. It is an evergreen conifer that resembles the Larch in appearance but is evergreen. It has flexible branches and trunk which can be shaped into many styles.
Like many coniferous trees, cedars do not transpire as much as their deciduous counterparts and are therefore able to withstand drought much better. Nevertheless, you should water regularly from spring to early autumn and occasionally in winter during dry spells.
