Horse Chestnut is an eye catching plant that is particularly suitable for the formal upright, infromal upright and natural tree styles. It has mid-green leaves of five to seven leaflets. Flowers are borne in upright clusters in late spring to early summer.

Location
During summer position out of direct sun to avoid scorching of foliage.

Temperature
Native to south-eastern Europe it is generally hardy, but should be kept during long periods of low temperatures in a frost free greenhouse or shed.

Watering
Horse chestnut loses water, especially in the growing season through transpiration. Keep well watered during the growing season, keeping the soil just moist in the winter.

Pruning
Prune tips of shoots, to encourage good overall branch structure. Pinch out the growing tips of new shoots when 2-3 leaves have formed throughout the growing season to keep the silhouette neat.

Repotting
Check to see if your tree needs repotting every three to five years.

Feeding
Feed during spring with a weak solution of general liquid fertilizer.

Please Note: The tree in the picture is the one you will receive. Please note that measurements given are approximate not exact. Measurements given are from the bottom of the pot to the top of the tree, the pot colour may also vary from the picture. Due to their nature trees grow and whilst in our care may need pruning, this means the tree that you receive may differ in size to that given in the description. The appearance of the tree may vary depending on the season.
