Enkianthus perulatus or White Enkianthus is a flowering plant native to Japan. It is a slow-growing, deciduous plant and has pure white, bell-shaped flowers in spring, which are then followed in autumn by brilliant red and yellow coloured leaves.
Location
Outdoors in full sun or partial shade.
Temperature
Outdoors in summer but will require winter protection from hard frosts.
Watering
Water regularly throughout the growing season. Keep damp during winter.
Pruning
Some pruning when needed. Remove dead branches after the plant has flowered.
Repotting
Repot in spring when it needs it, check every 2-3 years.
Feeding
Do not fertilise when the tree is flowering. Feed from early spring to summer with low nitrogen feed. Always read the label.
