Fruiting & Flowering Cotoneaster Simonsii Bonsai Tree which has been wired to shape and stands approximately 33-37cm tall.

Cotoneaster simonsii or Himalayan cotoneaster. A semi-evergreen upright plant with green leaves that turn red in autumn with flowers in summer and fruit in autumn.

Location & Temperature

Outdoor plant that can tolerate cold weather and doesn’t mind full sun. 

Watering

Water regularly when plants are in flower, take care not to wet the flowers which are easily damaged. Keep compost damp during the winter. 

Pruning

Prune to keep the shape in late winter or early spring. 

Repotting

Repot your tree when it needs it. Check every few years.

Feeding 

Feed during the growing season, always read the label.

We have been running our bonsai classes and workshops at Herons for over thirty years where they have been the source of inspiration for many bonsai enthusiasts. Currently we run a number of different workshops by Peter Chan or a Herons Team Member. 
 
What is a Workshop?
All our workshops are hands on sessions for all abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You can learn many aspects of bonsai in this class. 

These workshops book up fast so please do book if you would like to attend.

We do have a waiting list that you are welcome to join by emailing [email protected] letting us know how many places you are looking to book, please accompany this with your contact number, this means we can call if we get a late cancellation.

If you are looking for a 1-2-1 class with Peter Chan he can normally offer a 2 hour time slot on a Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 11am finishing at 1pm. 

You can also book a 1-2-1 with one of our experienced Herons Team Member should you wish.
